The Horse Comes First was delighted to be at the QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot to raise awareness of the high levels of equine care and welfare in British horseracing.
British Champions Day was a great opportunity to debut our new Horse Comes First marquee in the Fan Zone and be part of the finale to the British Flat racing season. We were also excited to be visited by the winners of our Newmarket Open Weekend competition, Neil Holden and Jo Saunders (pictured below), who won two tickets to the raceday at Ascot and thoroughly enjoyed the day.
As well as the excitement of the races, the day also boasted a parade of Olympians including Nick Skelton, Jade Jones, Natasha Baker and George Nash, as well as book signings by Clare Balding and Jilly Cooper.
There was also a painted horse demonstration, showcasing the unique anatomy of a thoroughbred and how it enables the thoroughbred to gallop both at speed and over a sustained distance. The demonstration also gave an insight into the state-of-the-art veterinary facilities at Ascot and the first class veterinary care provided to racehorses throughout British Racing.
